Restoran Thaqwa Corner is a local eatery nestled in the heart of Dataran Ara Damansara, Petaling Jaya, that brings a typical Malaysian mamak and Malay food experience to the table. It’s the kind of place where regulars drop by for a filling breakfast or a casual lunch, drawn by familiar staples like roti canai, nasi kandar, and ayam tandoori. The menu’s breadth is notable, balancing classic mamak options like nasi lemak ayam goreng and murtabak ayam with fresh juices and more Malay-style dishes, reflecting the multicultural food culture in this part of PJ.

The atmosphere leans towards functional and straightforward rather than upscale; the space feels clean and open with a view of the busy intersection nearby, allowing diners to watch the ebb and flow of everyday Petaling Jaya life. The vibe is casual, making it an easy spot for families, friends, or office-goers looking for a quick, hearty meal. Busy hours tend to slow down service a bit, which can catch you off guard if you’re in a hurry, but staff generally keep an attentive eye on customers, aiming to manage the flow as smoothly as possible.

Breakfast is a popular time here, with many locals coming to indulge in various roti options—from the simple roti canai to the more substantial roti telur bawang. Pairing these with a classic glass of teh tarik is a familiar daily ritual for many visitors. Lunch crowds often lean towards the nasi kandar sets or freshly cooked fried chicken. The place also offers interesting choices like bariani kambing kuah campur and fried noodles that highlight the blend of Indian-Muslim and Malay culinary traditions.

One aspect worth noting is the smoking situation; while it fits the local mamak scene, some families and parents with kids might find the shared space less comfortable during peak hours because of this. A designated smoking area could improve the dining environment for those sensitive to it.

Overall, Restoran Thaqwa Corner feels like a dependable spot for straightforward, affordable Malaysian fare—with a menu reflecting the diverse tastes of the neighborhood. It suits those who appreciate unpretentious, flavor-rich meals where you can come in for breakfast roti or a filling lunch, soaking in a slice of local daily life along the way.

I find this mamak joint relatively cheaper from others. Haven’t ordered their mamak dishes, only tried the fried dishes from the malay stall. My favorites include kuey teow kungfu, bihun tomyam and bihun singapore. They serve fresh coconut and my favorite basil asam boi. Service can be slow when it’s full house seems like they’re understaffed so you might wanna other something similar when you come in big group. They also accept separate payment for big group.

food menu diverse, loads of choice, price same with many others in other places; service is fast, but not all waiters can speak English which is understandable; location is near a cross road so you can have a broad view outside, good option for a meal time.

Often have our breakfast here, like the roti, nasi biryani, fried chicken, roti variety and first try on this roti tissue today! Yummy tasty with best match teh tarik... Just that some customers just had no courtesy to kids and family... Smoking as they like and hope this can be improved with specific designated smoking zone
